Ideos chewable tablets contain calcium and vitamin D. Each tablet contains 500mg calcium and 400iu vitamin D3. Ideos can be used to treat Vitamin D or calcium deficiency or in conditions such as osteoporosis where there is a risk of deficiency of vitamin D or calcium

Calcium is an abundant element in the body. It plays a key role in the development and maintenance of bones. Calcium enables contraction of muscles ,including the function of the body’s most important muscles and the heart. It is also essential for the normal blood clotting, proper nerve impulse transmission and the appropriate support of connective tissue.The risk of pre-eclamplasia developing lowers by 45-75%for women who receive calcium supplementation. Pregnant women, nursing mothers, children and adolescent need more calcium than they normally get from eating calcium rich food.Adult women may take calcium supplements to prevent a bone disease called osteoporosis.Adiet low calcium for many years ,especially in the younger adult years may add to risk of developing it . Vitamin D3 or cholecalciferol is the form of vitamin D,which occurs in natural foods and is formed in the skin Vitamin D serves to promote transport of calcium and therefore of phosphate from the gut ,to control with parathormone, the mineralisation of bone and to promote the renal tubular re-absorption of calcium and phosphate.

Side Effects
Constipation and upset stomach may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly.

If your doctor has directed you to use this medication, remember that he or she has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects. Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects.

Tell your doctor right away if any of these unlikely but serious side effects occur: nausea/vomiting, loss of appetite, unusual weight loss, mental/mood changes, bone/muscle pain, headache, increased thirst/urination, weakness, unusual tiredness.

A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is rare. However, seek immediate medical attention if you notice any symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, including: rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, trouble breathing.
